PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps are seriously yummy!! I was so happy to get this PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps Copy Cat version to try out over the weekend… I know it’s supposed to be an appetizer but we had it for a meal. It’s not EXACTLY the same as PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps but pretty darn close and really good. There’s not a lot of oil and if we substitute agave nectar for the sugar then were getting lower calories too and it still tastes just like original Wraps! Makes for a great recipe for all those New Year’s resolutions we’re making this week
- PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps… (okay, a copy cat)
- Ingredients for filling
- In a fry pan, over medium high heat, warm 1 Tbsp oil
- Add chicken to pan and cook 5-6 minutes
- Turn over and cook additional 5-6 minutes or until no longer pink inside
- Chop waterchestnuts, pea size
- Chop green onion
- Chop mushrooms, pea size
- When chicken is cool enough, chop pea size
- For Stir Fry Sauce, in a small bowl, add soy sauce
- Add brown sugar, mix well
- Add rice vinegar
- Warm pan again, add 1 Tbsp oil
- Add garlic and green onion
- Add mushrooms and waterchestnut
- Add chopped chicken
- Add stir fry sauce, stir in and cook 2 minutes more for sauce to warm and soak in
- Ingredients for Special Sauce
- In a small bowl, add water and sugar
- Add soy sauce
- add rice vinegar
- Add ketchup
- add lemon juice and mix well. Refridgerate if made first
- Serve chicken filling in a lettuce cup with the Special Sauce… Yum!
These PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps… Copy Cat style are a very close second to the actual dish they’re just a lot easier on the pocket book!! (Gotta thank my friend, Kate, for another great recipe… she’s awesome! They taste just like the real PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps)
- PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps Special Sauce:
- ¼ C sugar or ⅛ agave nectar
- ½ C water
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce (low sodium if desired)
- 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- Filling:
- 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breast
- 1 (8oz) can water chestnuts, minced
- 1 C mushrooms, minced
- 3 Tbsp green onions, chopped
- 1 tsp mined garlic
- 1 head lettuce
- Stir Fry Sauce:
- 4 Tbsp soy sauce (low sodium, if desired)
- 4 Tbsp brown sugar or 2 Tbsp agave nectar
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps Special Sauce:
- In a small mixing bowl combine ingredients, mix well, refrigerate until ready to serve.
- PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps Filling:
- Mince water chestnuts and mushrooms to the size of peas.
- Prepare stir fry sauce by mixing together in a small bowl.
- In a sprayed fry pan bring 1 Tbsp oil to medium high heat.
- Saute’ chicken breasts for 5-6 minutes per side or until done.
- Remove chicken from pan and cool.
- When chicken is cool, mince same size as vegetables.
- Add 1 Tbsp of oil to same pan, when oil is hot add garlic, onions, chestnuts, and chicken. Saute’ 4-5 minutes.
- Add stir fry sauce, saute 2 minutes, until warmed and soaked in.
- Serve mixture in lettuce cups and top with PF Chang’s Lettuce Wraps special sauce.
